“I repeat it for a reason: education and education again” Shavkat Mirziyoyev

At an event in the Kuksaroy residence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the coverage of higher education in Uzbekistan, Kun.uz reports. According to him, five years ago the coverage was 9%, now it is 29%. If you ask me if I’m happy, no, not yet. To do this, we must increase the coverage to 50 percent, the head of state said, adding that the state will be strong if the people and scientists have knowledge. I believe that. I am not repeating in vain: education and education again, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The president also stressed that at a recent meeting with entrepreneurs, one guy said that if he was given a chance, he would provide jobs in the IT sector for 100 thousand people. In general, more than 15,000 proposals were received from entrepreneurs and I, if possible, studied them myself. 70% – fair offers. Now we are working on their solution, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Academic Performance and E-learning in Italy | Using data from Google Trends in Italy, we study how different regions reacted to the implementation of online learning through national-wide platforms, such as Google Classroom and WeSchool, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Regions with a previously lower academic performance, actively searched more in Google about e-learning tools, surpassing regions with earlier school closures. Analyzing school administrative data before the pandemic we find that teachers in lower performing regions were already using other e-learning tools more than higher performing regions. Complementing this with survey data for students we find that the ones in lower performing regions were also relying more on internet to follow up school lessons and attend additional tutorials. Unlike studies in other countries, our findings suggest that the COVID-19 shock may not change the lower academic performance regions behavior in their usage of e-learning.
