Improving National Education Systems After Covid-19

Book Launch and Presentation

17:30 to 19:00 (Western European Time)

On November 4th, the book Improving National Education Systems After Covid-19 – Moving Forward After PIRLS 2021 and PISA 2022 will be launched, a collective work published by Springer that explores the challenges and recent lessons learned by the education systems of several countries. The session takes place in an online format, at 17:30 (Western European Time).

The event will be attended by Joana Pais (Moderator, Vice-President of ISEG, University of Lisbon), Nuno Crato (Research Professor at CEMAPRE/ISEG, University of Lisbon) and Harry Anthony Patrinos (Head of the Department of Education Reform, University of Arkansas), Patrick Wolf (University of Arkansas), among other co-authors of the book.

The book analyzes the statistical results of the international PIRLS 2021 and PISA 2022 assessments, which measured the reading, mathematics and science performance of students in 12 countries, including Chile, Ecuador, England, Estonia, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and the United States.

Based on recently released statistics, the book examines the impact of the pandemic on student learning, highlighting significant variations across countries in learning losses and education policy effectiveness. It offers an overview of the approaches that have proven most effective in overcoming educational challenges, suggesting data-driven strategies to guide future advances in education.

This event will be an opportunity to reflect on the state and challenges of education!
